Chiharu Shiota is a huge inspiration for me.
She inspires my thread work and my use of old wooden windows and doors.
I saw her work at ‘Lost in Lace’ at Glass Hall in Birmingham.

Shiota uses thread differently to me, where by she incases objects such as, dresses, pianos, chairs, shoes, beds and bodies.
I have used thread more graphically in the past to create shapes and sharp imagery, such as my 2012 piece “All had doors and windows carelessly open and none showed a light.” for Young Plymouth Arts Centres exhibition “Then there was the sky…”.
